Reminder about wonderful Intercultural Day that takes place this Friday 26th May! We will be kicking things off with an Intercultural Breakfast for all the parents - so please join us and bring along your favourite breakfast foods from around the world at 8.30am in the hall! Afterwards, parents will be treated to performances from classes; displays of project work and a colourful parade of the whole school community wearing their county colours or country dress! We cannot wait for everyone to join us for this fantastic celebration of our amazing Intercultural school community!
In Powerstown this month we will be celebrating Intercultural May. Each class will be learning about a particular country or continent. In the Chestnut Class we will be focusing on Bulgaria for the month. This country will be our focus but if any parents or family members would like to come in and talk to the class about their own country, culture or background we would be absolutely delighted to have you into the class. If anybody has any questions in interest in coming in over the month do not hesitate to contact me [email protected].
Keep watching the blog for what is happening in May. As part of Seachtain na Gaeilge the Ash and Chestnut Class performed three different pieces in Irish for the whole school and guests. It was both the Chestnut Class and Ash Classes first trip outside of the school to Imaginosity as part of Engineers Week. We had an excellent day and everybody enjoyed themselves. We even received compliments of how well behaved and mannerly our school were while there. While learning loads of new and fun information this Heritage Week the Chestnut Class were given the opportunity to try their hand at being archaeologists for the morning. To add to the event we even had a question and answers session with Aoife about what it was like to be an archaeologist. As you can see from the pictures everybody had a brilliant day and gained lots of new information. This week we were learning all about the Alta Mira Cave Paintings in Spain. We even tried to do our own cave paintings. We put paper underneath our tables and using chalk drew our very own under table cave paintings, It was really great fun had by everybody. |Today both the Chestnut Class and Ash Class came together to do some Snowman Art. Using shaving foam, glue, glitter and recycled materials they made some really cool Snowman. If you get a chance to come into the school they will be on display outside the classroom. If not here are some pictures of everybody hard at work. Enjoy!!! Just a reminder to all family, friends and guardians that the Winter Performance will take place on Friday the 16th of December in the hall. It will be starting at 11:30am and we would love to see as many people there as possible. Alot of hard work has gone into the performances and the hall is all set to go for it tomorrow. Hope to see you there!!!!
We had a lovely start to our week with a percussion workshop in the school hall. Both the Chestnut Class and Ash got to try out different types of instruments and had a really great time. We were very lucky this week in Powerstown to have Ciaran Kilkenny an All Ireland winner with Dublin come to the school to show us the trophy. Great occasion enjoyed by everybody in the new school hall. |
